The Hopewell Museum in Paris-Bourbon County, Kentucky is seeking an individual with museum experience and education to manage and operate the only museum in the county. Duties and responsibilities include museum operation, Executive Committee coordination, coordination with other local organizations and schools, publicity, and exhibit planning and implementation.
Position: Executive Director, Historic Paris-Bourbon County/Hopewell Museum, Inc.
Hours
Full time: 35 hours including evenings, weekends, and special events as needed
Vacation: 70 hours/year; 2 weeks sick leave; 2 personal days
$250,000 life insurance policy
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies or allied field preferred and/or 3-5 years museum and historic preservation experience. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills to work with the community, patrons, volunteers, and committee members.
Publicity
Maintain monthly calendars and website updates, and produce newspaper articles
Send publicity to venues outside Bourbon County
Design publicity materials as needed
Maintain social media accounts
Fundraising
Assist Board of Directors and Development Committee with fundraising
Solicit special event and exhibit sponsors
Participate in fundraising events
Community Outreach
Serve on local and state professional boards and committees
Provide presentations for local and wider community events
Curatorial Committee (Collections and Exhibits)
Oversee acceptance and processing of donations
Work with committee to interpret collection materials
Assist committee in development, installation and dismantling of exhibits
Office Administration
Perform general office duties
Possess skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Past Perfect
Create and oversee museum mailings
Maintain donation receipt records, city/county requests, office records
Open and close museum
Educational Programs
Plan, publicize, schedule, and staff student and adult educational opportunities
Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors
