Building Community in Adversity, Hopewell Museum’s latest exhibit, celebrates the struggles and accomplishments of African Americans in Paris and Bourbon County during the onerous decades of Jim Crow segregation. This exhibit in honor of Black History Month demonstrates how African Americans built community through churches, schools, organizations, businesses, and neighborhoods when they were not welcome in other segments of the community.

FALL OPEN HOUSE! This year’s featured home belongs to Steve and Cindy Stewart. The Woodlawn property, also known as the ‘Tucker House’, is located at 1519/1521 Peacock Road. Come see the extensive restoration of this beautiful Federalist-style home built in 1818. You’ll be guided through the house and yards, with detailed accounts of the renovation and history of the property. Saturday, August 19th, 2:00pm. Refreshments provided. Join us for a weekend of jazz celebrating the life of Bourbon County’s own jazz musician, Bill Coleman. Friday, July 14, at the Paris Bourbon County Library, Bill Allison will discuss Mr. Coleman’s life. On Saturday, July 15, at the Hopewell Museum, enjoy dinner and live jazz by the Walnut Street Ramblers, along with a live and silent auction. On Sunday, July 16, a free jazz concert will be held.
