Friday, July 14, at the Paris Bourbon County Library, Bill Allison will discuss Mr. Coleman’s life. On Saturday, July 15, at the Hopewell Museum, enjoy dinner and live jazz by the Walnut Street Ramblers, along with a live and silent auction. On Sunday, July 16, a free jazz concert will be held. Building Community in Adversity, Hopewell Museum’s latest exhibit, celebrates the struggles and accomplishments of African Americans in Paris and Bourbon County during the onerous decades of Jim Crow segregation. This exhibit in honor of Black History Month demonstrates how African Americans built community through churches, schools, organizations, businesses, and neighborhoods when they were not welcome in other segments of the community.
