Hopewell Museum will be raffling two quilts to benefit our educational programs. The suggested donation for raffle tickets is $5 each or 3 for $10. You can purchase up to two $5 tickets, and you can purchase an unlimited amount of 3 for $10 tickets. We will send you an email with a photo of your raffle tickets. The drawing will be held during Spring Artwalk (date and time TBD).
Quilt #1
The light blue was made and raffled by the Paris Younger Women’s Club in 1979. It was won by Catesby Simpson, and she had donated this piece of history to the raffle. As with any vintage quilt there are a few imperfections, repairs and light staining on the back. The quilt is a large embroidered handmade/hand quilted quilt. You will see that the date and PYWC is embroidered on one corner.
Quilt #2
The second quilt is a Robbing Peter to Pay Paul quilt made by Annabel Shropshire Wallace. She was born in Bourbon County, in the family home on the Hill Road, near Leesburg in 1874 and died in 1968. This beautiful vintage quilt is well over 50 years and has some minor imperfections. This piece is donated by Rogers Barde, Virginia Barde, and Lindsay Roseberry.
